Get funded! English for Grant Writing in Hamburg on 13 June 2013

TuTech Innovation will offer a workshop on English for grant writing that
will take place on
* 13  June 2013 *
in Hamburg at the premises of TuTech Innovation.

Winning research funding is a competitive business. With much funding now
targeted at international cooperation, the ability to write effectively and
convincingly in English is a requirement of any researcher. This workshop
is designed to help those who do not have English as their native language
improve their ability to write research proposals especially for European
funding programmes.

Participants will learn how to identify good models and develop effective
writing strategies to target an interdisciplinary readership and put their
message across in English. Participants will be introduced to the
'grammar-free' portfolio approach to developing their writing skills,
followed by a 'hands-on' practice session. The 'starter kit' portfolio can
be developed beyond the workshop as a self-learning technique and adapted
to all other types of writing in English. This semantic and structural
approach can help writers save time in all future writing situations.

The course is limited to 16 participants who do not have English as their
native language. The level of English should be intermediate or above.
There is no need for a knowledge of grammar, but this course is not
suitable for beginners. The workshop presenter is British by birth, and
bilingual by upbringing. She has been a Lector at the Department of English
and American Studies of the University of Hamburg since 2003.

Employees of Hamburg University of Technology participate for a special
price of 100 Euro (plus 19% VAT).

TuTech Innovation which is organising the workshop was founded in 1992 as
the technology transfer institute for the Hamburg University of Technology.
We are offering services regarding participation in EU funded programmes
especially for publicly funded universities and SMEs.

ReMaT - Research Management Training for Early-Stage Scientists on 29/30
April 2013 in Brussels

TuTech Innovation in cooperation with Brussels Office of the Helmholtz
Association will offer a ReMaT - research management training - workshop
that will take place on
* 29/30 April 2013 *
in Brussels at the premises of Brussels Office of the Helmholtz
Association.

This ReMaT workshop is designed for early-stage researchers, particularly
PhD candidates from the 2nd year onwards. The idea of European networking
is very much embedded in the concept, and we encourage participation from
many different countries at the workshop.

ReMaT is an interactive, intensive workshop providing an introduction to
research management. It involves two resp. three international trainers and
is held in English. The modules of the workshop cover exploitation of
knowledge and entrepreneurship, acquisition of grants, intellectual
property rights and the management of interdisciplinary projects. They are
delivered in such a way that it challenges participants to consider
different perspectives on how they might use their PhD education in a
variety of career paths, and convince others to hire them.

The concept has been conceived and developed by a partnership comprising
the Brussels Office of the Helmholtz Association, the Science Enterprise
Centre at Oxford University's Said Business School and TuTech Innovation.

ReMaT invites PhD candidates and postdocs in natural sciences, medicine and
engineering from any research institution or university to apply for one of
the 25 places. The participation fee for participants from TUHH is reduced
to 250 Euro and includes the information package, lunch and coffee breaks
as well as the networking event in the first evening.

TuTech Innovation which is organising the workshop was founded in 1992 as
the technology transfer institute for the Hamburg University of Technology.
We are offering services regarding participation in EU funded programmes
especially for publicly funded universities and SMEs. The mission of the
Brussels Office of the Helmholtz Association is to help increase the
participation of Helmholtz Research Centres in European research projects.
